Rules/Frequently Asked Questions


  1. You can only register as a individual. Team work is encouraged.
  2. Only competitors will be allowed on the course.
  3. No strollers or wheeled instruments allowed.
  4. No pets allowed on the grounds.
  5. You must complete all obstacles to complete course. You will be given every chance to complete the obstacle.
  6. You must start with your assigned wave to receive your correct time.
  7. All entries are final with no refunds.
  8. All decisions by race officials are final and binding.

Packet Pickup

  • Your photo i.d.
  • Please bring a signed copy of the following waiver. It will be included in your Final Race Instructions packet, but you need to have it signed in order to compete.
  • Packet pick up will be from 7am to 11am race day at the Base Lodge at Shawnee Peak Mountain.


There will be 4 divisions for awards, Mens Open, Womens Open, Mens Master (40+), Womens Master (40+). All ages are as of race day.


Chip timing will be used for all participants and results will be posted on line soon after the event.

Champions Heat

The last heat of the day will be the Champions Heat. The top 10% of finishers in each division will be eligible to compete in the Champions Heat to win the Golden Helmet. Playground rules, first one across the line wins their division.


There is no group division but you can sign up with friends, family, colleagues or workout buddies and receive a discount for each member. Groups with 5-9 members will receive $5 off for each registration, groups with 10 or more members will receive $10 off for each registration. Please follow the directions on the registration page on how to set up a team and receive the discount.


Volunteers are the lifeblood of an event of this size. We need plenty of volunteers for important and fun positions. Coming with with a friend or family member who is participating and want to still watch them compete.  Want to get a seat where no other spectators will be.  All volunteers will receive a t shirt, something to eat and our eternal gratefulness.

If you have a large group of 25 or more, the Shawnee Peak Challenge will donate $500 to your organization. A great way to raise some funding and have some fun at a great event. Any questions or want to inquire about bringing a group please email


All spectators are welcome. There is no fee for any spectator. Spectators are not allowed on the course.


Parking will be at Shawnee Peak Mountain. There is no fee for parking. We strongly encourage car pooling.


At each obstacle there will be volunteers and staff to give aid and to ensure participants are properly completing the obstacle.


There are 15 obstacles inspired by Special Operations Doctrine, drawing on each branch of the US Military. Some are more difficult than others. Participants are expected to complete each obstacle.

Wave Starts

The first wave block will start at 10:30am. The Champions Heat will start at 2pm. When registering you can choose your preference for which wave you want to be in. Your actual start time will be assigned two weeks prior to race day and will be included in your final race instructions.

Race Start

The race will start at 10:30 am for the first wave. You should be there at least an hour before your assigned wave start to make sure you have enough time to park and register.

What do you get for the fee

Each participant will receive a t shirt, medal, an amazing, exhilarating course that will challenge you in ways that you would never have thought of, and the bragging rights of a accomplishing the Shawnee Peak Challenge

Age Restrictions

You have to be at least 16 years old to compete in the Shawnee Peak Challenge. If you are under 18 you will need a guardian’s consent to enter in the event. All ages are as of race day.


You will need to sign a waiver before you can participate and turned in at packet pick up. You can download the Waiver here


October is the ideal New England month for outdoor activities. Historically it is usually in the 60′s during the day.


The course will encompass 630 feet of vertical elevation. The highest point on the course is 1175 above sea level. Make sure you admire the view of the area while you are there.
