Event Information

With 15 strenuous obstacles, the Shawnee Peak Challenge tests the soul and physical ability of participants from weekend athletes to everyday adventure seekers. Registrants looking for the best one day challenge on the East Coast are invited to experience a military-grade obstacle challenge on the rugged face of Shawnee Peak. This military inspired course was crafted by a former Special Operations instructor to offer fitness enthusiasts of any level a weekend challenge under a majestic Maine backdrop.

  • Distance – 2-3 miles. This is not a road race. It isn’t about the distance, it’s about challenging yourself.
  • Time limit – There is no time limit for you to finish the course, but the average participant will likely finish in an hour.
  • Obstacles – There will be at least 15 obstacles for you to conquer.
  • 5 Obstacles are shown – The rest will be unveiled weekly.

Registration Fees

  • Early Registration – $75 Thru August 20
  • Standard Registration – $85 Thru September 17
  • Late Registration – $95 Thru October 20
  • Walk in Registration – Will not be available

Post Race Party

After you complete the Shawnee Peak Challenge its time celebrate with a party at the Lodge at Shawnee Peak Mountain.  Grab a beer and something from the BBQ while you and your fellow competitors trade stories on what you have just accomplished.

Champions Heat

The 10% of finishers by time will qualify for the final heat of the of the day, the Champions Heat. This untimed heat will crown the Shawnee Peak Challenge (“SPC”) Champion in each of the four divisions, Men, Women, Men’s Master (40+), Women’s Master (40+), with each winner receiving the SPC Golden Helmet. Finishers 2-5 in their division will receive a SPC Helmet.

The Champions Ceremony, where the SPC Golden Helmet and SPC Helmets are awarded, will commence immediately following the Champions Heat. Also at this ceremony Cadre Coins will be handed out to participants who impressed the Cadre with their spirit and positive attitude during the competition.

Wave Start

Participants will begin in traditional wave starts. The wave starts will be segmented into half hour blocks, which participants can choose at registration. The first wave block starts at 10:30 a.m. and the final wave block will be at 11:30. Your actual start time will be assigned two weeks prior to race day and included in your final race instructions.

The Champions Heat will begin at approximately 1:00 pm.


The race will be held at Shawnee Peak Mountain in Bridgton, Maine. Shawnee Peak is a short drive from both Portland, ME and North Conway, NH and is only a 2.5 hour drive from Boston, Ma. For directions to the mountain please click here.

Kids Race

If you want to instill a love of adventure and the outdoors in your children, this event is a perfect family affair! Children can feel the pride of completing their own mission with the Mini-Peak Challenge which is a mini-obstacle course adjacent to the Shawnee Peak Challenge. More details will be announced in the upcoming weeks about the Mini-Peak Challenge.
